Japan national football team delivered one of the standout performances of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hammering Tunisia national football team 4-0 in a dominant Group F clash on Saturday.
Japan came flying out of the blocks and took the lead just four minutes into the match when Daichi Kamada finished off a slick attacking move. The Samurai Blue controlled possession and constantly pressed Tunisia, leaving the North Africans struggling to settle.
Their dominance paid off again in the 31st minute as Ayase Ueda doubled the lead with a composed finish, giving Japan a comfortable 2-0 advantage heading into halftime.
The second half brought more of the same. Junya Ito added the third goal in the 69th minute after another flowing team move, before Ueda completed his brace with a brilliant header in the 84th minute to seal an emphatic victory.
Ueda was the star of the show with two goals and an assist, while Japan’s high pressing, quick transitions, and sharp finishing overwhelmed Tunisia throughout the contest.
The result lifts Japan to four points in Group F after their earlier 2-2 draw with the Netherlands national football team, putting them in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stage. Tunisia, meanwhile, are eliminated after suffering back-to-back heavy defeats.
This was also a historic match, marking the 1,000th game in FIFA World Cup history, making Japan’s commanding win even more memorable.
