One of the teachers kidnapped from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Michael Oyedokun, has been killed by his abductors.
A viral video released on Sunday allegedly showed the teacher being beheaded while tied up, raising fears over the safety of the remaining victims.
Confirming the incident, the media aide to Governor Seyi Makinde, Dr Suleimon Olanrewaju, said six suspects linked to the kidnapping had been arrested.
He added that security operatives, including soldiers and Amotekun personnel, lost their lives after encountering explosives planted by the kidnappers during rescue efforts.
The government assured residents that efforts were ongoing to rescue the remaining abducted teachers.
