More Demolitions Coming, Diri Warns Drug Peddlers

Governor of Douye Diri has vowed to intensify the crackdown on drug peddling and cultism in Bayelsa State.

Speaking in Yenagoa, Diri defended the demolition of the notorious “Aboki Quarters” drug hideout and warned that more such sites will be brought down. He directed security agencies to monitor nearby areas where displaced suspects reportedly relocated.

The governor clarified that the action was not targeted at non-indigenes but aimed at protecting youths and curbing crime.

Meanwhile, Deputy High Commissioner of the British High Commission, Gill Lever, said the “Brighter Futures” initiative has trained over 200 youths in vocational skills to reduce cultism and drug abuse.
