Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with two additional counts of rape, further escalating an ongoing legal case against the 32-year-old footballer.

The UK Crown Prosecution Service confirmed it has authorised the new charges, with Partey expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, March 13. He has denied all allegations and is scheduled to face trial in November.

Partey had earlier pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault at Southwark Crown Court in September last year. The alleged offences reportedly occurred between 2021 and 2022, during his time as a regular first-team player at Arsenal. He was charged shortly after leaving the club when his contract expired in June.

Currently on bail, Partey is due to stand trial on November 2. He now plays for Villarreal in La Liga. His bail conditions allow him to continue playing football but require advance notification to police before international travel and forbid any contact with the complainants.

Despite the case, Partey remains part of the Ghana national team ahead of their World Cup group-stage clash with England on June 23.
