Ronaldo Acquires 25% Stake in UD Almería

Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has acquired a 25 per cent stake in Spanish club UD Almería, the club confirmed on Thursday.

In a statement, Almería announced that Ronaldo joined its ownership consortium led by SMC Group, acquiring the shares through CR7 Sports Investments, a subsidiary of CR7 S.A.

The club described the move as a major step in its international expansion strategy under president Mohamed Al Khereiji, who welcomed Ronaldo’s entry as a significant boost to the club’s long-term vision.

Al Khereiji praised the former Real Madrid CF star as one of the greatest players in history, noting his deep understanding of Spanish football and belief in Almería’s sporting and academy project.

Ronaldo, who currently plays for Al Nassr FC, said the investment fulfils a long-held ambition to contribute to football beyond his playing career, expressing confidence in the club’s foundations and growth potential.

The 41-year-old spent nine trophy-laden years in Spain with Real Madrid, becoming the club’s all-time leading scorer and cementing his legacy in La Liga.
