The Governor of Abba Yusuf has called on the Federal Government to urgently deploy modern firefighting equipment, including aerial support, following a fresh fire outbreak at the popular Singer Market in Kano.
Yusuf made the appeal on Saturday while inspecting the Gidan Gilas section of the market, where the inferno was still raging and destroying shops and goods.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, the governor urged federal authorities to strengthen emergency response capacity nationwide, particularly in major commercial centres.

According to him, improved equipment and air support would significantly reduce the scale of destruction during such incidents.
He commended the efforts of the Kano State Fire Service and security agencies battling the blaze, while appealing to traders and residents to remain calm and cooperate with emergency responders.
Singer Market, one of Kano’s major commercial hubs, has now suffered two fire outbreaks in recent times.
