Veteran Journalist Yakubu Mohammed Laid to Rest at 75

The remains of veteran journalist and co-founder of the defunct Newswatch Magazine, Yakubu Mohammed, have been buried in Ologba, Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The burial, held on Thursday morning, was officiated by the Chief Imam, Alhaji Musa, alongside Dauda Omeje.

In his sermon, the Chief Imam urged worshippers to live purposeful lives and prepare for death, describing it as an inevitable end for all mankind.

He praised Mohammed as a selfless community man who remained steadfast in his Islamic faith and committed to the development of his people.

Religious and traditional leaders, family members and sympathisers attended the funeral.

PUNCH Online reports that Mohammed died on Wednesday at the age of 75.

Born on April 4, 1950, the late journalist earned a Bachelor’s degree in Science and studied at St Joseph’s Primary School, Anyigba; Government Secondary School, Okene; the University of Lagos; and the Glasgow College of Technology, Scotland.
