The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has ordered troops of Operation HADIN KAI to prepare for a decisive phase in the war against Boko Haram and ISWAP, saying “failure is not an option.”
Addressing soldiers in Maiduguri, Borno State, Shaibu said the Army was entering a critical stage of the counter-insurgency campaign and assured that all combat enablers and new platforms have been provided to guarantee success.
“This phase belongs to you, the new generation of soldiers. The responsibility of ending Boko Haram and ISWAP rests on your shoulders,” he told the troops.
He revealed that battle-tested officers had been deployed and that advanced surveillance tools and mobility assets were now in use to strengthen operations.
The Army Chief also highlighted improved welfare, including better rations, prompt allowances, enhanced medical care, and investment in accommodation and education for soldiers’ families.
During his two-day visit, Shaibu inspected the TB2 Armed Drone Hangar, commissioned Heroes Accommodation, visited wounded soldiers, and paid a courtesy call on the Shehu of Borno before returning to Abuja.
