Man Dies Attempting to Steal “Agemo Deity”

Residents of Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, were shocked on Saturday morning to find the iconic golden Agemo statue at Mafowoku roundabout removed with a man lying dead beside it.

The statue, which has been in existence for over 21 years along Folagbade Road, was reportedly targeted by an unidentified man believed to have attempted to steal it.

Eyewitness Hakeem Quadri, a local resident, confirmed the incident, saying, “It happened right in front of my house. People gathered early in the morning, and when I came out, the statue was gone, and the man believed to have removed it was dead on the ground.”

Sources say the body has since been taken to the mortuary.
