Social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, is scheduled to appear before the Nigerian House of Representatives on Monday in connection with bribery allegations involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The controversy arose after VeryDarkMan released an audio recording in which crossdresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, allegedly claimed to have bribed EFCC officials with N15 million to dismiss a money laundering case against him.
In the audio, Bobrisky also alleged that he avoided a six-month jail sentence at Kirikiri Prison, Lagos, through arrangements made by his godfather, who reportedly secured him accommodation in a lodge instead of prison.
In response to these allegations, the House of Representatives has summoned VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky, and EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede as part of a wider investigation into the matter.
VeryDarkMan’s legal representative, Deji Adeyanju, has confirmed that his client will appear before the National Assembly Investigative Panel to aid in uncovering the details of the Bobrisky scandal involving officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
Adeyanju tweeted: “We will be at the National Assembly tomorrow with our client @thatverydarkman to assist in investigations into allegations by Bobrisky that he/she paid N15m to have money laundering charges dropped by EFCC and also bribed prison officials to stay in an apartment.”
