President Donald Trump has removed Admiral Linda Fagan from her position as Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, marking a significant leadership change just hours after his inauguration.
The Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the Coast Guard, has not commented on the dismissal.
Acting DHS Secretary Benjamine Huffman acknowledged Fagan’s long service but cited “leadership deficiencies” and operational failures as reasons for her removal.
Reports indicate that her focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and failure to adequately address border security were also factors in the decision.
