A devastating auto accident along the Tage Bridge in the Kafin Hausa Local Government Area of Jigawa State has resulted in the deaths of at least 14 people. The incident occurred on Monday when a passenger vehicle lost control and crashed, leading to a horrific scene with bodies scattered around.
The Jigawa State Police Command confirmed the accident through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Shi’isu Adam. He reported that the driver survived the crash and is currently assisting authorities in investigating the cause of the accident.
According to Adam, the vehicle, a Golf 3 wagon with license plate GML 842 XA, was traveling from Hadejia town to Makera village when it somersaulted and fell into a river. Emergency responders arrived promptly and transported the victims to Hadejia General Hospital, where a doctor confirmed the deaths of eight women, two men, and four young men at the scene.
The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident and have urged the public to provide any information that could assist in their inquiries. The identities of the victims have not yet been released pending notification of their families.
