TCN’s Two-Month Power Outage Proposal, Rejected By Ekiti

The proposed two-month, July–August, power outage has been rejected by the Ekiti State Government.

The public was previously made aware of this intention by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company in a circular concerning the planned outage to carry out critical maintenance work on the 132 kV Akure-Osogbo transmission line, particularly its consumers in Ekiti and the bordering state of Ondo State.

In contrast, Ekiti said that the action would require the state’s inhabitants to pay a “unacceptable economic, financial, and social price.”

On Tuesday, July 2, in the Ekiti State Government Secretariat, the government requested that the proposal be suspended and that an urgent meeting be held with all concerned parties to give room for a better alternative.
