President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in eight new Federal Permanent Secretaries during a ceremony held just before the first Federal Executive Council meeting of the year at the State House in Abuja.
The event was preceded by introductory remarks from the State House Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Abiodun Oladunjoye.
The newly appointed permanent secretaries are Onwusoro Ihemelandu (Abia), Ndiomu Philip (Bayelsa), Anuma Nlia (Ebonyi), Ogbodo Nnam (Enugu), Usman Aminu (Kebbi), Oyekunle Nwakuso (Rivers), Nadungu Gagare (Kaduna), and Kalba Usman (Gombe).
Additionally, President Tinubu swore in 18 Federal Commissioners for the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission. This follows his appointment of 21 federal commissioners last August, pending Senate confirmation. The new commissioners represent various states, including Linda Oti (Abia) and Akpan Effiong (Akwa Ibom), among others.
During the meeting, council members observed a minute of silence for former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Useni, who passed away on January 23, 2025. The council resumed its meeting after a six-week recess, which had been announced by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.
