Police deny raid NLC secretariat

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has denied raiding the secretariat of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Abuja.

This was stated by the Public Relations Officer of the Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, while speaking on Channels Television on Wednesday.

Olumuyiwa clarified that operatives of the command were only tracing an individual suspected to be a terrorist to the building that houses the NLC secretariat.

According to him, the suspect was on the second floor, while the NLC secretariat occupies the 10th floor, adding that the union’s offices were not raided, as claimed.

“Police don’t have any ‘ungodly’ hour to work. That operation was a joint operation with other security agencies.

“The building has 10 floors, and the NLC secretariat is on the 10th floor. We were only tracing a person wanted not only by Nigeria but across the world, who was on the second floor conducting activities.

“I believe the leadership of the union was misinformed by some individuals who don’t know the full details of the operation.

“The NLC might not be involved directly, but we found some documents between the individual and the secretariat, possibly related to a landlord-tenant relationship. We were simply deepening our investigation,” he said.
