The Kaduna State Police command has arrested a man whose identity remains undisclosed for allegedly abducting and concealing a 10-year-old girl inside a refrigerator.
The suspect was apprehended on Tuesday, following the incident which occurred in Unguwar Gara Village of Kauru Local Government Area.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the state’s police command, ASP Mansir Hassan, the mother of the abducted girl, Uwaila Idris, reported her daughter, Hanifa Garba missing on Saturday afternoon.
Reports have it that Hanifa was allegedly abducted by a resident of the same area who denied knowledge of Hanifa’s whereabouts.
However, the suspect’s shop was searched upon further investigation and insistence from the community and Hanifa was found inside a refrigerator, her mouth covered with a hijab (veil), and padlocked inside.
The swift action of the community members led to the rescue of Hanifa, and the suspect was immediately apprehended by the police.
ASP Mansir Hassan stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the suspect’s actions as the suspect will face charges in court upon the completion of the ongoing discreet investigations.
