Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested a crypto billionaire, Linus Williams, popularly known as BLord.
Blord was arrested in Abuja on Tuesday following allegations of cryptocurrency fraud, terrorism funding, and aiding internet fraud among others against his companies.
A statement by the Force PRO, Muyiwa Adejobi on Tuesday, indicated that the FCID (NPF-NCCC), of the Force is carrying out the investigation.
“The Nigeria Police Force is currently investigating complaints lodged against BLORD GROUP, BLORD REAL ESTATE LTD, BLORD JETPAYE LIMITED, and BILLPOINT TECHNOLOGY”, he wrote.
BLORD group is Chaired by Linus Williams. Linus is the CEO of a pioneering fintech company that merges the innovative capabilities of Billpoint and Famous, along with leading crypto trading apps Jetpay, Jetpro, and Bitshop.
The offences include allegations bothering on cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding, and non-compliance with regulatory frameworks.
The statement by Adejobi promised that the Police Force will do due diligence in its investigations.
It said, “Our cyber space in Nigeria must be safe and secured by all means. We are committed to achieving that.”
