Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has committed to fulfilling the bail conditions for human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi, who was granted bail in a defamation case involving Aare Afe Babalola.
The bail requirements include a N30 million bond, two sureties (one of whom must own a house), surrendering his passport, and refraining from media interviews.
Tanko Yunusa, a former spokesperson for Obi’s campaign, announced the decision on Friday, emphasizing Obi’s dedication to the rule of law and due process.
Yunusa conveyed Obi’s gratitude to the courts and all parties involved, expressing hope for a resolution that benefits everyone in the legal system.
“I consulted His Excellency, Peter Obi, as the leader of the Obidient Movement. As a respecter of rule of law, due process, and order, he offered to take Dele Farotimi on the bail conditions,” Yunusa stated.
