Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, expressed concern over the arrest of a church pastor abroad for greeting attendees as “ladies and gentlemen.”
He noted that this phrase was deemed discriminatory by some, as it did not encompass all gender identities recognized in that culture. Adeboye shared these remarks during a monthly thanksgiving service at the RCCG’s Throne of Grace in Lagos, where he delivered a sermon titled “My father’s house,” emphasizing the moral decline he perceives globally and urging congregants to strengthen their faith amidst such challenge.
“The end is nearer than you think. Things are getting worse, and this is a wake-up call. One of my pastors abroad was arrested for simply addressing a gathering as ‘ladies and gentlemen.’
“Some people reported him for discrimination, asking, ‘What about those who are neither ladies nor gentlemen?’” he stated.
He also voiced an alarm over the global decline of moral values, interpreting recent events as indicators of the end times. During a sermon at the church’s monthly thanksgiving service in Lagos, he urged believers to maintain their faith and commitment, warning against complacency in their spiritual lives.
