Osun Magistrate Court Remands Man Over Theft Of Transformer Cable

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ede, Osun State has remained one Adam Yusuf, 28 over theft of transformer cable.

The defendant, who was arraigned before an the court by Osun Police Command on three count charges bordering on theft, was said to have thrown three communities into total darkness.

Yusuf was said to have committed the crime in the company of others now at large on June 2, 2024 at about 10:30pm at Oke-Iresi Area in Ede.

The charge preferred against Yusuff read, “That you Adam Yusuff and others at large on the 2nd of June, 2024 at about 2230hrs at Oke-Iresi Area, Ede in the Ede Magisterial District did conspire together to commit felony to wit entering and stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 16 of the criminal code cap 34 vol. II laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.

“That you did enter into the dwelling place of one Major Adewusi Samuel (Retired) at Oke-Iresi to commit felony therein and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 411 of the criminal code cap 34 Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.

“You did enter into the dwelling place of one Major Adewusi Samuel (Retired) at Oke-Iresi and steal Transformer’s Armor Cable valued N800,000:00k meant to service Olorunsogo Community, lludun community and Saka Salami Estate community respectively and being the properties of IBEDC of Nigeria ably represented by one Foluso Adejumo, the Technical supervisor of Ifon, Osun state and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 383 and punishable under section 390(9) of criminal code cap 34 Vol II Law of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.”

Yusuff pleaded not guilty to the allegations but he did not have any legal representation.

In his judgment, Magistrate V.O. Adedokun admitted the accused person of bail in the sum of N1 million and two sureties in the like sum.

However, Yusuf could not meet the bail conditions and he was remanded in Ilesa Correctional Facility while the case was adjourned till July 25 for hearing.
