Niger State Police Command Cracks Down on Crime, Arrests Multiple Suspects.

The Niger State Police Command has announced the arrest of several suspects in connection with various crimes, including conspiracy, abduction, kidnapping, defilement, and theft. This crackdown on crime is part of the command’s efforts to reduce criminality in the state.

According to a release by the Police public relations officer of the command Wasiu Abiodun and made available to News men in Minna, confirmed the arrest of Umar Mohammed for defiling a six-year-old girl. He confessed to the crime and has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

Other arrest include four suspects Joy Nuwa, Favour James, Ezekiel Emmanuel, and Patience Obana, I. Suleja Area of Niger State were arrested for conspiring to abduct a six-month-old baby. The infant was rescued unhurt, and the suspects allegedly planned to sell the baby.

Abiodun also confirmed the four kidnappers and Recovery Firearms, Ibraihim Muazu, Rabo Yakubu, Tanko Sura, and Hauwa’u Sarkin-pawa, were arrested for kidnapping a 25-year-old victim. The victim was released after a ransom of three million naira was paid.

The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Shawulu Danmamman, commended the public for their partnership in reducing crime and assured of the command’s continued commitment to combating criminality in the state.

This development comes after the command’s significant crackdown on crime in 2024, which saw the arrest of 713 suspects linked to major crimes.
