The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed over 100,000kg of cannabis spread across 51 hectares of farmland in Ekiti State.
This was disclosed in a statement by the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, on Sunday.
According to Babafemi, NDLEA operatives, with the support of Nigerian Army personnel, raided three camps located in the Ise-Ekiti Forest Reserve within the Ise/Orun Local Government Area on Tuesday, September 3, and Wednesday, September 4.
The affected areas included Aba Saalaja, covering 23 hectares; Aba Paanu, 12 hectares; and Aba Arogunmatidi, 16 hectares—all within the Ise-Ekiti Forest Reserve.
In a separate operation, Babafemi also revealed that two suspects were arrested on Friday along the Toro-Jos Road in Kaduna. The suspects were caught with 305kg of cannabis concealed in a false compartment of a J5 boxer bus with registration number YLA 682 XM.
