The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 24-year-old Thai lady, Ms. Pattaphi Wimonnat, for attempting to smuggle 43 parcels of Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, weighing 46.60 kilograms into Nigeria through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos.
The agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement released on Sunday.
According to Babafemi, the NDLEA officers discovered the drugs hidden in her luggage.
“The suspect, who confessed to being a hired drug trafficker, was apprehended on Thursday, February 20, 2025, during the inward clearance of passengers on a Qatar Airways flight from Thailand via Doha at the arrival hall of Terminal 2, Lagos airport,” Babafemi said.
Wimonnat admitted that a drug cartel had recruited her and promised a payment of $3,000 upon the successful delivery of the drugs in Nigeria.
