NCAA And Kenya Airways Clash Over Allegations Of Passenger Mistreatment

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and Kenya Airways are currently in a heated dispute regarding the alleged mistreatment of a Nigerian passenger, Ms. Gloria Ibukun, during her journey from Lagos to Manchester.

A viral video captured a confrontation between Ms. Ibukun and airline officials at Nairobi’s transfer desk after she was reportedly dropped off due to visa issues, despite having traveled the same route previously.

According to NCAA spokesperson Michael Achimugu, the airline had confirmed that Ms. Ibukun was initially routed correctly but failed to provide adequate support when she was denied boarding in Nairobi. Achimugu criticized Kenya Airways for their staff’s unprofessional conduct and warned of potential consequences if the situation is not resolved promptly.

In response, Kenya Airways stated that they offered Ms. Ibukun an alternative route through London, which she declined. The airline emphasized that passengers are responsible for ensuring they possess the necessary travel documentation and condemned the passenger’s alleged inappropriate behavior towards their staff.

The incident is under investigation by relevant security agencies as both parties continue to exchange accusations regarding the treatment of Nigerian travelers.
