The Nigeria Legion, Kebbi State Chapter, has commended the state government for its continued support of its members.
The Chairman of the Legion Garba Hassan Suru made this known during the Emblem Appeal Fund launch ceremony at the Council Chamber of Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
He revealed that the state chapter has 2,428 members and over 16,000 widows, emphasizing the need for additional support to address their challenges.
The Chairman expressed gratitude to the Kebbi State Government for supporting the previous year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day with a sum of ₦30 million, which facilitated the completion of their secretariat.
Regarding the land allocated to them by the previous administration, the Legion appealed for the completion of all necessary certifications, noting that the land is meant for residential purposes for its members.
In his response, Governor Nasir Idris lauded the Nigeria Legion for their sacrifice and described them as a critical pillar in the nation’s survival, having paid the supreme price to protect the country.
The Governor also launched this year’s emblem with a donation of ₦50 million and urged all donors to fulfill their pledges, assuring them that he would personally oversee the redemption process.
Over ₦80 million was raised at the event
