The founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Aare Afe Babalola has bagged an historical award from King’s College, London.
Afe Babalola was recognized with the honors on Thursday at his conferment as fellow of the King’s College London for his immersed contributions to transformative and transnational education.
He advocated for more synergy between ABUAD and King’s College London in order for faculties and students to cross fertilize ideas, saying such would be a great contributions to performances of students and lecturers of the two institutions.
Speaking on the impact of the award, he said the honour will enable him to contribute more the growth and development of education being a crusader of quality and functional education.
“What this award mean to me is that I have a right to sit at the senate meeting and be part of the board members and help in directing the affairs of the University.” He added
Earlier, the Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, represented by the state’s Head of Service, Folakemi Olomojobi, hailed the founder having passed across the globe in the aspects of medical, law, invention and science.
She said his giant strides across all sectors has made him the father of the state, stressing that his uncommon humanity and impact have ranked him higher against all odds.
Also, the Vice President, International Engagement and Service, King’s College, London, Funmi Olonisakin said the fellowship award was in recognition of the transformative activities and performances of the legal luminary to the society.
On her part, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Smaranda Olarinde said the investiture was in recognition of Afe Babalola’s giant strides in the fields of law, Justice, agriculture, education, entrepreneurship, philanthropy and human development.
She added that the global recognition makes the legal luminary the ideal exemplar of the power of transformative education.
