GOC BIDS FAREWELL TO 6 DIVISION, PAYS SISTER COMMANDS LAST VISITS

The General Officer Commanding the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, is set to leave the command for another posting .

This is contained in a statement signed by the Director of Public Relations Nigerian Army 6 Division , Lieutenant Colonel , Danjuma.

The statement noted that as part of his final activities in the division the GOC paid visits to sister command to bid them farewell .

According to the statement Major General Abdussalam in his farewell speech at the 16 brigade Yenegoa , urged the troops to remain uncompromising in their commitment to national security and to avoid any form of collaboration with economic saboteurs. He emphasized the importance of sustaining efforts to meet the Federal Government’s target of producing 2.3 million barrels of crude oil per day, a benchmark critical to the national budget.

He noted that significant progress made under his tenure should be sustained , highlighting the increase in oil output from 1.2 million barrels per day in 2024 to over 1.88 million barrels per day. He attributed this achievement to the relentless efforts of the troops, which have also led to a notable reduction in illegal bunkering, economic sabotage, and associated criminal activities in the Niger Delta region.

The GOC lauded the resilience of the troops in navigating challenging terrains to protect national assets and infrastructure. He acknowledged their role in improving environmental conditions, particularly the reduction of black soot pollution, a longstanding concern in the region.

In his parting words, Major General Abdussalam expressed pride in the accomplishments of the division and urged the troops to extend the same level of support and cooperation to the incoming GOC. He also reminded them to uphold discipline, professionalism, and commitment to effectively project the positive image of the Nigerian Army.

Other sister commands visited as part of his farewell activities include the Mobility Command of the Nigerian Air Force, Central Naval Command, and the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force, Operation DELTA SAFE. During these visits. He met with senior officials, including Air Vice Marshal Sunday Aneke, Rear Admiral Ahmad Gaya, and Rear Admiral John Okeke, emphasizing the need for continued inter-agency collaboration in securing the region.

“The farewell marks the end of Major General Abdussalam’s tenure as the GOC of 6 Division, leaving behind a legacy of strengthened national security and economic contribution .”The statement reads.
