Federal Medical Hospital, Ikole Ekiti, has successfully conducted a total knee replacement surgery barely six months after commencing operations.
The Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Professor Dare Ogunlusi, disclosed this to newsmen in Ikole Ekiti, affirming that the development attests to the facility’s preparedness to offer qualitative healthcare services to the people of Ekiti State and its environs.

He noted that the knee surgery was just the beginning, adding that the management targets more critical surgeries and complex surgical interventions, such as specialist cancer management, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, transplant services, and plastic surgery, among others.
Professor Ogunlusi confirmed that all major facilities in the hospital have been upgraded to suit the standards of a Federal Medical hospital.
“The fact that we have achieved this feat in just a few months is remarkable,” the CMD said. “We are not going to relax; we will do more. If anyone in this environment needs medical attention, they should come to FMC Ikole, assured of receiving the best medical services.”

He emphasized that the hospital prioritizes patient welfare and provides a conducive working environment for staff to ensure they deliver their best in service to humanity.
“We aim to create a good and aesthetic environment, so patients know they are receiving qualitative medical care. We will treat patients with dignity and respect, just as we would our own family members, while also treating our workers properly.”
Professor Ogunlusi appealed to experts within and outside the country to return home and partner with the hospital, promising that their welfare would be given adequate priority.
In an interview, the patient confirmed she was doing well and commended the health officials for the quality healthcare services. She also confirmed that the medical bill was very affordable.
