FG Prepares for Potential Mass Deportation of Citizens from the U.S.

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has announced the Federal Government’s readiness to welcome deported citizens from the United States.

In an interview, NiDCOM’s Director of Media and Corporate Affairs, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, stated that an inter-agency committee has been formed, involving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant bodies, to manage any mass deportations.

“The Federal Government has set up an inter-agency committee, comprising the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NiDCOM, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and office of the National Security Adviser, NSA, should there be mass deportation of Nigerians from the US.” He stated.

Although approximately 3,690 Nigerians face deportation under President Trump’s immigration policies, NiDCOM clarified it is unaware of any ongoing deportation processes.
