The federal government has debunked the rumour making the round that the country signed the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender” (LGBT) document as circulated online by purveyors of fake news.
Speaking with journalists, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris said the federal government will not sign any document that will affect the citizens of the country.
He clarified that there’s a law against “lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender” (LGBT) in Nigeria, and the Federal Government would not go against the law.
According to him, “The President and this administration will not in any way sign anything that will harm our nation.
“So all those clamouring that there is a signature out there that gives away our country as LGBT compliance country or seeking to do that is mischaracterisation, misrepresentation.
“The Federal government insists that our laws will be respected, our traditions will also be respected.
“There is a law existing against the issue of LGBT, the federal government of Nigeria will not go against that. It is important that we put this out there.”
