EKITI STATE POLICE COMMAND ARRESTS 12 SUSPECTS FOR VANDALISM, THEFT

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested 12 suspects in connection with the vandalization of electric cables and transformers across the state.

Acting on reports of increasing cases of infrastructure vandalism, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), in collaboration with Non-State Actors, launched a targeted operation to track down those responsible.

The crackdown, which took place on February 21, 2025, at about 1:30 PM, led to the arrest of the following suspects in their hideouts within and outside Ado-Ekiti:

Kabiru Abubakar (20), Kamarudeen Adekunle (38), Sukurana Amodu (26) , Atiku Abubakar (24), Ibrahim Milasi (26), Jafaru Iliasu (24), Nasiru Yahuza (25), Muhammadu Aminu (25), Isah Zaiyanu (32), Abubakar Rabiu (21), Ibrahim Rasaq (27), Yusuf Usman (25) .

During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to the crimes of vandalization and theft. Items recovered from them includes rolls of armored cables, recline cables, aluminum conductors, a transformer feeder pillar, binding wire, electrical cables, and generator parts.

The Police Command has assured that the suspects will be prosecuted accordingly.

Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, has issued a stern warning to criminal elements within the state, urging them to desist from unlawful activities, as security agencies remain committed to maintaining law and order.
