Ekiti Governor Releases N1bn Gratuity, Clears Pension Arrears


Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the release of N1 billion as gratuity to state pensioners. This follows the distribution of N3.5 billion in gratuity cheques to retirees last month.

In addition, Governor Oyebanji has also approved the payment of two months’ pension arrears to local government pensioners. 

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Yinka Oyebode, confirmed these developments in a statement released on Thursday. 

Oyebode stated, “Additionally, Governor Oyebanji also approved payment of two months’ outstanding subvention to Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti and one-month outstanding subvention each to Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti; Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere Ekiti; and College of Health Science and Technology, Ijero Ekiti.

“Also approved for release is a one-month outstanding subvention to the judiciary.

“The payments are in fulfilment of the governor’s promise to prioritise welfare and well-being of workers and retirees and ensure that all outstanding entitlements of workers and pensioners owed by previous administrations are paid, in line with the continuity and shared prosperity agenda of the administration.”

Oyebode conveyed the Governor’s message, assuring workers of the administration’s dedication to their welfare and timely payment of all entitlements.
