Ekiti Governor Declares State Ready to Become Nigeria’s Agro-Allied Export Hub with New Airport Operations

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, announced on Wednesday that the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport positions the state to become Nigeria’s agro-allied export hub.

In his New Year address, he celebrated the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority’s approval for non-scheduled flights as a significant milestone.

Oyebanji projected 2025 as a transformative year for food production and infrastructure, emphasizing the airport’s role in connecting Ekiti’s economy globally.

He stated, “Ekiti has taken a major leap toward greater economic development, particularly with the NCAA’s approval for non-scheduled flight operations at our state airport,”

“I am thrilled to announce that the Ekiti State Airport is now completed and ready for operations.

“On December 13, 2024, the NCAA granted a six-month license for the airport to commence non-scheduled flights, which will serve as a testing phase for the systems ahead of full operations scheduled for June 15, 2025. This, in my view, is the best New Year gift for the people of Ekiti.”

He expressed gratitude to state leaders and the federal government for their support in this developmental endeavor
