Court Grants Speed Darlington ₦20 Million Bail in Cybercrime Case

A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted Nigerian singer Darlington Achakpo, popularly known as Speed Darlington, bail set at ₦20 million.

Justice Ekerete Akpan issued the ruling on January 15, 2025, following the singer’s not guilty plea to charges of cybercrime linked to derogatory posts about fellow artist Burna Boy.

The court stipulated that a Level 10 civil servant must act as surety and reside in Abuja.

Speed Darlington will remain in Kuje Correctional Centre until bail conditions are met, with the trial scheduled for March 18, 2025
