The Bill seeking the removal of immunity clause for all state governors and the Vice President has passed second reading at the House of Representatives.
The immunity clause, which protects them from prosecution while in office was countered by the Bill seeking to strip them of such protection.
Proponents argue that this move will curb impunity, deter corruption, and ensure that public officials remain accountable for their actions.
Another landmark bill proposes the separation of the offices of the Attorney-General of the Federation and the states from those of the Minister of Justice and state Commissioners for Justice with the aim to insulate the office of the Attorney-General from political influence.
The House also passed a bill granting citizenship rights to foreign spouses of Nigerian women.
