The Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace Limited, Dr. Allen Onyema, has commended the facilities and operational efficiency of the Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, describing it as one of the best in the world.
Dr. Onyema made the remarks on Saturday after landing at the airport at approximately 10 a.m. in a Boeing 737 aircraft. He lauded the airport’s apron, runway, and terminal building, emphasizing their functionality and aesthetic appeal.

Onyema while speaking with journalists highlighted the airport’s readiness for both international and domestic flights, positioning it as a critical infrastructure for economic and social development. He further noted that the facility is capable of accommodating larger aircraft, including Boeing 777s, making it a strong contender for major aviation activities in Nigeria.
“This is the first time a Boeing 737 is landing at this airport, and as an aviator, I can confidently say it is one of the best airports in the world,” Onyema stated.
“The pilot confirmed that this is one of the best runways he has ever seen. With time, Ekiti pilgrims might start flying from here because the airport can handle even a Boeing 777.”

Onyema also expressed his willingness to partner with the airport once it commences commercial operations, adding that the facility has the potential to serve as a major hub for travelers and pilgrims.
In his remarks, the Technical Adviser to the Governor on the Airport Project, AVM Sunday Makinde (rtd), said the seamless landing of a Boeing 737 underscores the airport’s readiness for full commercial operations. He emphasized that this milestone demonstrates the airport’s capacity to handle large aircraft and provide top-tier aviation services.
Echoing similar sentiments, the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, described the project as a transformative initiative for Ekiti State. He noted that the successful landing of the Boeing 737 is a testament to the state government’s commitment, under Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s leadership, to infrastructure development for economic growth and improved connectivity.
