
Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) welcomes its graduates into the medical profession during its 7th induction ceremony for Medicine and Surgery (MBBS).
Vice-Chancellor Professor Smaranda Olarinde addressed attendees, highlighting the university’s commitment to uninterrupted academic sessions since launching its medical program in 2011 and its strategic collaborations, including a partnership with Johns Hopkins Hospital in the USA.
Professor Olarinde also announced the addition of advanced healthcare facilities at ABUAD, including 17 dialysis machines and three MRI scanners, positioning the university’s medical services among the top in Sub-Saharan Africa.
“Our hospital has 17 dialysis machines and three MRI Scanners operating simultaneously, the only one in Nigeria with such capacity”. She stated.

She expressed pride in the achievements of the new doctors and reaffirmed ABUAD’s dedication to producing qualified and ethically conscious medical doctors.
Special recognition was given to Valedictorian Motajo Oluwatosin Olakunle for achieving seven distinctions, alongside Ojogbane Bumiyo Favour and Benedict Oluwatosin, who earned five distinctions each.
Additionally, gratitude was expressed towards Professor Fatima Kyari, the Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), for her contributions to the event.
Aare Afe Babalola (SAN), the founder and Chancellor of Afe Babalola University (ABUAD), extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly qualified doctors during their induction ceremony.
He encouraged the graduates not to lose hope in Nigeria’s future, urging them to be industrious and adhere strictly to medical guidelines in their patient care.

Professor Fatima Kyari, the Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), administered the pledge to the inductees, marking a significant milestone in their medical careers.
In her address, Professor Kyari expressed gratitude to the graduates for their outstanding performance, acknowledged the founder for creating a conducive learning environment, and thanked the parents for their support throughout the students’ educational journeys.
She also emphasized the importance of professionalism and ethical practice in medicine, encouraged the graduates to uphold their responsibilities as future doctors.
The ceremony was attended by a distinguished group of dignitaries. Among those present were Guest speaker Prof. Ikeoluwapo Oyeneye Ajayi, members of the University council, University executives, Faculty from the College of Medicine and Health Services, representatives from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), as well as the inductees and their parents.
