A bomb explosion in Kawuri, located in the Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, resulted in the death of Abba Godori, the vice chairman of the local Civilian Joint Taskforce.
Eyewitnesses reported that Godori stepped on the bomb, believed to have been planted by terrorists a day earlier, while on patrol.
“Mr. Godori was on a patrol when he stepped on the bomb. He was following the footsteps of the terrorists until he fell on the bomb” the source said.
While the Borno State Police Command has yet to confirm details of the incident, explosives from terrorist groups continue to pose significant challenges in the region’s counter-insurgency efforts.
