Trump Signs Executive Order for U.S. Withdrawal from WHO

U.S President Donald Trump signed an executive order initiating the United States’ withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO), criticizing its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He accused the organization of imposing “unfairly onerous payments” on the U.S. compared to other nations like China.

The U.S., the largest financial contributor to the WHO, will cease its funding within a year, significantly impacting global health initiatives.

This marks Trump’s second attempt to sever ties with the WHO, following a similar effort during his first term that was reversed by President Biden.
