The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, announced on Sunday that Nigeria is now free from the terror group Lakurawa, claiming the militants have been expelled from the country.
Speaking to reporters in Gusau, Zamfara’s capital, he dismissed allegations from Zamfara’s Commissioner of Police that Lakurawa was responsible for recent bombings in the state.
Matawalle emphasized that the military had successfully forced the group, which originated as a self-defense militia in 2016, back to Mali.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts in combating terrorism and urged Nigerians to support his administration’s initiatives.
