The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, is poised to launch the ‘School Protection Squad’ in Ogun State, aimed at enhancing the safety and security of schools throughout the region.
A statement from Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, announced that the initiative will be inaugurated during a two-day event titled “Capacity Building for Security Agencies and Other Stakeholders,” scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.
This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to safeguarding educational institutions in the state.
The spokesperson announced that the upcoming event will offer stakeholders in-depth insights into the Nigeria Police Force’s strategies for securing schools statewide.
She stated, “The programme is designed to enlighten stakeholders about school safety and the proactive steps taken by the Nigeria Police Force to ensure every school in Ogun State is well-protected. These include rapid response deployment, vehicular patrols, and orientation sessions on safer security practices for students, principals, and school partners.
“Sister security agencies, government bodies, traditional rulers, and representatives from the private sector will also be present, lending their support to ensure a grand opening.
“The public is encouraged to follow the proceedings live on the official police social media platforms from 10:00 am on 26th and 27th November 2024.”
She explained that attendees will have the chance to engage in discussions, exchange information, and suggest new strategies aimed at improving the security of children in schools throughout the state.
