The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, has arrested 19 suspects and dismantled several drug joints in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
In a statement on Thursday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Sadiq Maigatari, said the operation was carried out under the leadership of the State Commander, CN DY Lawal, as part of “Operation Ramadan Mubarak.”

According to him, the raid followed credible intelligence from a concerned resident, prompting operatives to swiftly move into the Gezawa community and dislodge suspected drug traffickers.
Recovered items include cannabis sativa, diazepam, Exol-5, a street substance known as “Suck and Die,” rubber solution, pregabalin tablets and other controlled drugs. The exhibits are now in NDLEA custody as investigations continue.
Lawal said the operation was aimed at safeguarding public health and ensuring a peaceful Ramadan for residents, warning that the agency would not relent in its enforcement drive.
He added that the crackdown aligns with the directive of the NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Buba Marwa, who has ordered sustained efforts to curb drug trafficking and abuse nationwide.
The command urged members of the public to continue providing credible intelligence to help combat the menace.
