Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a Kano-based businesswoman for attempting to smuggle illicit drugs concealed in a fake pregnancy.
The 35-year-old suspect, identified as Rabi Muhammad, was intercepted at the Seme land border while attempting to travel to Cotonou, Benin Republic.

According to the agency, officers became suspicious of her protruding stomach and subjected her to a full body search. The search revealed that her pregnancy was staged using a pink-coloured calabash strapped to her abdomen.

The improvised “baby bump” was found to contain 3,200 capsules of tramadol allegedly bound for sale in Cotonou.
NDLEA said the arrest underscores ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking through Nigeria’s borders.
