COAS Deploys Special Forces to Plateau to Tackle Banditry

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has deployed a battalion of Special Forces to Plateau State to tackle recurring banditry and other criminal activities threatening peace in the state.

The deployment was confirmed in a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation Enduring Peace, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, urged residents not to panic over the increased movement of troops and military hardware across the state, explaining that the buildup is strictly to strengthen security and restore peace.

Receiving the Special Forces at the 3 Division Headquarters, Major General Oyinlola, represented by the Chief of Staff of the operation, Brigadier General Senlong Sule, described the deployment as a significant boost to ongoing security efforts.

He charged the troops to remain firm and decisive in their operations against bandits, describing the arrival of the Special Forces as a potential game changer in addressing current security threats. Oyinlola also commended the COAS for providing critical logistics and combat support to ensure the success of the mission.
