Protesting Workers Shut Ekiti State University

 Protesting workers at the Ekiti state university, Ado Ekiti have suspended Academics activities at the university campus.

The protesting workers claimed their action is influenced by the inability of their members to afford transportation cost to the university campus.

Members of the Senior staff Association of Nigerian University as well as Non Academic staff union and National Association of Academic technicians at the Ekiti state university, Ado Ekiti have alleged that the State’s commissioner of Finance is responsible for the delay of subvention approved by the State Government 

They are protesting the non payment of four months subvention to the university and non remittance of deductions to cooperative societies and non payment of salaries.

Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday, 10th of July in Ado Ekiti, The chairman SSANU , Mr Aguda Temidayo Azeez said:

“the commissioner for finance and accountant general should be called to order and ensure  prompt release of the subvention earlier approved by the state governor”

“Our workers can no longer afford transportation from their various homes to the school premises to carry out their jobs”

the protesting staff also called on the Government of Ekiti state to call the State’s commissioner for Finance, and accountant general “to order” and ensure prompt release of the subvention earlier approved by the state Governor.

They also demand the monthly payment of thirty five thousand Naira as palliatives to cushion the effects of the current hardship on their members.
