Osun State descended into political shock late Monday as confirmation emerged that Governor Ademola Adeleke quietly resigned from the People’s Democratic Party nearly a month ago, stepping away from the platform that carried him to both the Senate and the governorship.
A resignation letter dated 4 November 2025 and addressed to the PDP Ward 2 Chairman in Sagba Abogunde, Ede North, surfaced through official channels in Osogbo. In the document, Adeleke attributed his decision to what he called a deepening crisis within the party’s national leadership, declaring his exit “with immediate effect.”

The governor offered measured gratitude to the PDP for past opportunities, acknowledging the party’s role in his political ascent. His spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, released the letter to the media on Monday, confirming its authenticity.
The revelation sends tremors across Osun’s political landscape, raising urgent questions about Adeleke’s next political home, the stability of the PDP in the state, and the broader implications for the approaching 2026 cycle. As party loyalists scramble for clarity, the governor’s departure lands like a stone dropped into still water, its ripples widening by the minute.
