A 400-level criminology student named Asiwaju was detained on Monday, June 17, 2024, at the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) for allegedly sexually assaulting a male student.
This was a troubling situation. There was proof of the assault found in Asiwaju’s lodge, where he was reportedly caught in the act. The students’ possible lynching was averted by the police’s swift involvement.
Given the unusual nature of the offence, some students who witnessed the scenes ridiculed the irony of a criminology student committing such a crime, while others questioned Asiwaju’s possible term and place in a jail facility considering the nature of the crime.
