The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has convicted the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, on count one of the terrorism charges filed against him by the Federal Government.
Delivering the judgment, Justice James Omotosho held that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt, presenting evidence that Kanu made a series of broadcasts urging violence, instigating attacks, and encouraging killings in pursuit of his separatist push for Biafra.
The judge described the material supplied by the prosecution as “uncontroverted evidence,” adding that the defence failed to rebut key submissions linking the broadcasts to acts capable of inflaming unrest and threatening national security.
