NSCDC deploys 2,150 in Ogun for Eid-el-Kabir celebration

For adequate security of lives and properties  in Ogun State , the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ogun state command has dispatched no fewer than 2,150 of its personnel across the states to ensure there is no breakdown of laws and order during and after the celebration of Eld-el-kabir.

This was stated in a press statement that Ogbonnaya Dyke, the command’s public relations officer, made available on Friday.

Dyke added that the deployment was intended to guarantee impenetrable security throughout the festivities, emphasising that prayer houses, public areas, and vital assets throughout the state are the top targets for monitoring.

Dyke continued, quoting Idowu Ojelabi, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, saying, “The state command has made adequate and concerted efforts at deploying all command’s tactical teams: the Counter-Terrorism unit; the Special Female Squad; the State Command’s Special Armed Squad; the Anti-Vandal Squad; the Mines and Steel Monitoring Squad; the Disaster and Rescue Management Unit amongst others for a peaceful celebration in and around Ogun State.

“He further stated that these tactical teams will cover public areas like prayer sites and centres, marketplaces, recreation centres, IBEDC cables and assets, mining sites, black spots, and other areas in the State with a lot of people living in them and doing things.” The PRO added that Ojelabi had also given the divisional commandants instructions to make sure their officers were being watched over and supervised in a professional manner while they carried out their jobs.

“While congratulating Ogun State Executive Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun on behalf of Commandant General Ahmed Audi, the State Commandant urged everyone to celebrate in moderation and to shun any actions that could bring disrepute to the State and disregard law and order, particularly those that could undermine the purpose of all government assets and infrastructure in and around the Gateway State,”
