35 suspected cultists have been arrested in Ekpoma, Edo state on Tuesday. The arrest was carried out by Anti-cultism unit of the Edo state police command on Saturday, April 27.
The Spokesman for the command, Chidi Nwabuzor revealed this with a statement on his official X account on Tuesday that the cultists were arrested following an intelligence report that some cultists suspected to be of the viking confraternity converged in an undisclosed location to carry out initiation process on their new members
“In continuation of the Edo state police commands’ onslaught against cult activities in Edo state, the operatives of the Anti-cultism unit of the command on Saturday, 27 of April 2024 stormed the city of Ekpoma after an intelligence report that some students suspected to be members of viking secret cult confraternity converged in an undisclosed place in Ekpoma to carry out initiation process on some new members where in the process, 35 cultists were arrested.”
The commander of the Edo State Police command, CP Funsho Adegboye reiterates the command’s commitment to ensure the safety of lives and properties of the citizens
